The sad thing is that our Education Minister genuinely doesn't realize how much she doesn't understand. It's a bit like continually telling a joke with the wrong punchline and everyone else but the teller knows...very sad.

Been observing Aussie events around league tables
Just returned from a week in Australia having attended a conference for educators of the deaf. Was watching the media (in particular the press) who were reporting quite strongly on the battle over the publishing of league tables. We were in NSW and this is where the current debate is hottest. Tolley fails to convince public at Taupo meeting
Last night (Tuesday March 2nd) Anne Tolley was in Taupo at a public meeting hosted by local National MP Louise Upston. The venue was small but was full. There was a mix of teachers, BOT members, parents, and a hand full of die hard national supporters. I was surprised on one hand at how few teachers turned up at the meeting and how many schools had no representation at all, but heartened on the other hand by the responses and questioning from those that were there.
