How do educators get traction?

I've just read John Tamihere in today's Sunday News - how can educators engage in reasonable debate on National Standards when right wing rhetoric gets publicity whilst adding nothing but unqualified and unjustified opinion to willing readers?According to Tamihere, principals are control freaks.
